Ellie Wen



President & Founder



Ellie is a high schooler in Northern Virginia. She started Us Against Lupus due to family connections to lupus and the lack of awareness. Fueled by ambition and passion for biology and making change, Ellie is determined to increase patient access to resources and services that will assist them on their lupus journey.



Ryan Qi



Outreach Director



Ryan is a high schooler in Northern Virginia. He enjoys biology, medicine, and music, and he hopes to use his skills to make a positive impact on the lupus community with Us Against Lupus.



Amber Cao



Volunteer Coordinator



Amber is a high schooler in year 2027. She is interested in health- and psychology-related fields and wants more people to know about lupus while providing opportunities for lupus patients. She is excited to help people and raise awareness with Us Against Lupus.



Emma Vu



Social Media Manager



Emma is a high schooler in Northern Virginia with a passion for Chemistry and Biology. She is deeply interested in student advocacy and educating others about lupus. She hopes to raise awareness about the disease while inspiring others to pursue scientific learning and community engagement.

Keely is a sophomore at the University of Virginia's McIntire School of Commerce. Keely hopes to raise awareness about lupus and employ her skills for a cause that really matters to her.

Sadie (Stevie) is a highschool senior in Northern VA with a strong interest in psychology and early-childhood education. They have a passion for writing and wish to help other people living with chronic illnesses. They have Type 2 Narcolepsy/fibromyalgia, so their connection to chronic illness education is very personal.

Mehareg Birhan is a high school junior in Los Angeles passionate about neuroscience and medicine. After losing a close friend to complications from lupus, she became determined to help raise awareness about the disease. She hopes to use her creativity and outreach to educate others and support the lupus community.



Sophia Presson



Sophia is a high schooler in eastern Missouri. She is a writer, audio technician, and aspiring disability lawyer. Living with a chronic pain condition, she has developed a passion for advocating for others with disabilities and chronic health conditions. Sophia values education, accessibility, and uplifting her community.
